Tide Construction installs first volumetric units at Hastings Road, launching the rapid build phase of Ealing’s newest PBSA development
Tide Construction has achieved a major milestone at Hastings Road in the London Borough of Ealing, with the first Vision Volumetric units successfully installed earlier this month. This marks the beginning of the accelerated assembly phase for one of West London’s largest purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) schemes, which will deliver 412 high‑quality student homes.
Situated on a 145,698 sq ft GIA site, the development comprises four buildings of 17, 14, 5 and 3 storeys, with the tallest reaching 100 metres. The installation of the first modules signals the transition from substructure works to installing the precision‑engineered volumetric units, which are 95% complete when arriving onsite, and then craned into position.
Each module is produced by Vision Volumetric in a controlled factory environment, arriving on site with internal finishes, MEP systems, and high‑performance façades already in place. This approach significantly reduces on‑site disruption, enhances quality assurance, and shortens programme duration.
With Tide acting as both developer and contractor, Hastings Road will provide much‑needed PBSA capacity in a high‑demand part of West London. The scheme is on track to welcome its first students for the 2027 intake, supporting local education institutions and contributing to Ealing’s wider regeneration.
