Bespoke governance procedures underpin all our activities and our dedicated teams work closely with all relevant stakeholders to achieve the highest standards, backed up by external, industry-best certification.

Our ESG strategy is founded on three pillars: enhancing our communities, leading the economic transition and championing the sector. Our overall performance against ESG objectives is monitored regularly through an ESG Steering Group that also promotes initiatives, identifies risks and opportunities and makes recommendations for further improvements.

Suppliers and contractors

Under our sustainable procurement policy, we are committed to the responsible sourcing of materials, and we only use suppliers that have passed our rigorous pre-qualification process. We are passionate about raising the standards of the construction industry as a member of the Considerate Construction schemes for all our sites.

Stakeholder engagement

We collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders to highlight our sustainability performance, and we produce an annual ESG Impact Report (EIR) that presents our carbon emissions and our progress towards our targets. Our policies and governance are aligned with GRESB best practice to demonstrate our progress in areas including energy, water and waste. As noted above, we have established an ESG steering committee to oversee the implementation of the ESG strategy and report to the executive.

Research, testing and certification

Innovation requires total commitment to research and testing. The Vision Volumetric system, is the product of an extensive 20-year process of research and constantly challenging ourselves to go further.

Through significant investment in Research, Development and Testing we have developed an industry leading system that provides enhanced performance in areas such as fire safety, acoustics and air permeability. Furthermore, it is this level of Research, Development and Testing that enables us to build higher, more sustainability and more efficiently than ever before.

Rigorous testing is a fundamental part of this process, and is rooted in the heart of our company culture. We work closely with testing organisations such as the BRE, as well as government agencies and industry bodies such as the Steel Construction Institute to develop a strong evidence base for the high performance of our system and to promote the highest levels of health and safety in our buildings.

For example, the wall build-up of our 3D units has undergone 2-hour full-scale natural fire testing to verify that the system provides a 2-hour structural fire rating, and the external Vision wall is fully non-combustible. We are committed to ongoing measurement and analysis and have collaborated with academics from the University of Cambridge, Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh Napier universities to calculate and verify the embodied carbon of recent schemes.

The result of this effort is a fully accredited system that is fundable, mortgageable and insurable. The Vision Volumetric system is covered by a 10-year structural warranty and assets incorporating the system have qualified for 12-year liability insurance against defects, loss of rent, M&E and other risks (at the Client’s request). Tide has ISO certifications for quality management (9001), environmental management (14001) and health and safety (45001). And we engage closely with industry frameworks such as BREEAM to demonstrate the holistic sustainability of our schemes and benchmark them against industry best practice.

Build-Zone is a 10-Year Structural Warranty provider. The company underwrites Structural Warranties or Latent Defects insurance for all types of developments.

Our UKCA certification is related to Visions BS EN 1090-1:2009+A1 2011 conformity for factory production control for the execution of steel and aluminium structures. The cert applies for steel components up to and including Execution Class 3 according to BS EN 1090-2:2018.
