Our first collaboration with Pocket Living delivered 32 much-needed sustainable homes in just 10 months.
Completed in September 2016, Mountearl Gardens is a development of 32 affordable homes aimed at local first-time buyers in an area of acute housing demand.
The scheme provides 29 one-bed and 3 two-bed apartments – built to level 4 of the then Code for Sustainable Homes – on a former garage site on the Handsome Estate in Streatham.
Mountearl Gardens was developer Pocket Living’s first project using the Vision Volumetric system and established a template for opening up infill sites on existing housing estates – adding much-needed homes while also enhancing the streetscape.
Tide has since completed four more schemes for the first-home specialist, comprising more than 300 homes.
The development has a complex massing, varying between one, two and three storeys to optimise the number of homes while maintaining views and access for existing estate residents. It has a striking brick, metal and glazed facade, with the clever use of perforated metal cladding creating a secure and self-policing environment.
Landscaped public areas and terraces offer high-quality outdoor space for both new residents and the existing community.
